Abu Dhabi residents with a sweet tooth now have direct access to the chocolate bar made in Dubai that has gone viral.
Fix Dessert Chocolatier, established by British-Egyptian entrepreneur Sarah Hamouda, specializes in chocolate bars with a Middle Eastern flair. Its signature product is the kunafa-filled chocolate bar, whimsically named ‘Can’t Get Knafeh of It.’ This indulgent treat features shredded filo pastry and pistachio cream wrapped in rich milk chocolate, earning it widespread acclaim on social media. The brand also offers other unique flavors such as baklava, karak, and Lotus Biscoff.
One TikTok video showing the kunafa-inspired chocolate bar has been viewed more than 90 million times, with many foodies and content creators from around the world uploading videos of themselves sampling it.
Fix Dessert Chocolatier, lacking a physical store, website, social media sales, or authorized resellers, is nonetheless striving to increase its capacity. Its chocolate bars are sold exclusively on Deliveroo for Dh68.25 during two specific time slots: 2pm and 5pm.
At the height of its social media fame in Dubai, the company was reportedly completing 100 orders every minute.
“Expanding our reach has always been our commitment, and Abu Dhabi was invariably our next destination,” states Hammouda.
Supermarket spin-offs
The popularity of chocolate has led to numerous spin-offs, including Lindt’s limited-edition Dubai Chocolate bar, which is available in certain parts of Europe.
Locally, pistachio-filled chocolates have become common in shops and online stores. For instance, Carrefour sells the 100g Choco Zen Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate Bar for Dh25.75, and Lulu offers the Lucca Pistachio Kunafa Chocolate for Dh17 for a 135g bar. The Just Fresh restaurant provides a Pistachio Kunafa Bar for Dh45 through Talabat, and Casa Pons sells an extra-large version for Dh78 on Amazon.
